For Children

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are not holding any in-person programming. Instead, stay up-to-date with our virtual programs and other offerings via the Oxford City newsletter and social media. Please call the library with any questions at 319-828-4087. Stay healthy and safe!

Youth Programs

Storytime: Join us every Wednesday morning at 9:30 for our storytime program, featuring stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts, all of which encourage young children to develop listening and socialization skills, a love of books and reading, early development skills like small-motor development, as well as early literacy skills. This is also a great time for children and caregivers to spend quality time together.

  • Ages: 5 years and under, along with their caregivers; siblings are also welcome
  • During COVID, storytime meets on Facebook Live every Wednesday morning for about 15 minutes. We'll sing a few songs and read a library book together! Join live or watch a recording on your own time.

Monday Make & Play: A virtual program for all ages. Join Megan on Facebook Live as she walks you through a 5-minute craft or DIY activity using materials often found lying around at home every Monday at 3:30 PM. Join live or watch later on your own time.

Take & Make Craft Bags: We provide the materials, you do the crafting and creating! Crafts are geared toward children of all ages, and new bags are available at The Depot in Oxford every Monday. Check the event page for seasonal dates. Bags are available on a first come, first serve basis; please only take one bag per participant. If you miss out on a bag, reach out to the library and we might be able to put together an extra bag for you.

Wacky Wednesdays: All ages are welcome to join us at the library after school's early release every Wednesday at 1:30. We've got LEGOs, crafts, games, puzzles, and more. The library is open until 5:00 PM; children are welcome to stay as long as they'd like up until closing.
