About the Library Director

Meet Sarah S. Uthoff, our library director.

Meet Sarah S. Uthoff, our library director.Sarah Uthoff, MLS has had diverse library experience. She started her library career as a volunteer at the Iowa City Public when she was 12. Since then she has worked in Director professional photo with permission to usevarious size public libraries, school libraries, and a college library. Currently she also serves as a reference librarian at Kirkwood Community College.

Uthoff might not be from Oxford, but she has deep Oxford roots. Her grandmother taught at Oxford high school and her grandfather lived on a nearby farm when he was a boy. There is a family plot in the Oxford Cemetery.

Uthoff is a member of the Humanities Iowa Speakers Bureau and freelances as a public speaker. She's just as at home handling original documents for primary research as she is trouble shooting a technology problem. She has recently fallen in love with social media (especially her Trundlebed Tales podcast). Uthoff also has diverse interests as a respected national authority on Laura Ingalls Wilder (currently serving as President of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy and Research Association), runs the listserv for the Country School Association of America, and is Foodways Resource Chair for the Midwest Open Air Museum’s Coordinating Council (a living history organization).
